Forest

6/6/11: Forest was adopted!

What a prince...

If you're looking for your 4-legged fairy-tale prince, then I just might be your guy!  I'm Forest a 3 year-old husky who was transferred to MaxFund from a high-kill shelter when my time was "up"!  Yikes - my fairy tale was nearly rudely interrupted.  Lucky for all of humanity, some special person (I call her my guardian angel) realized what a special prince I am & transported me to MaxFund where I'm awaiting my fairy-tale ending.

From the tips of my pointy ears to my long flowing tail, all 60-lbs of me is nothing but grace.  True to my prince-hood, I'm also an athletic guy & my special talent is jumping.  In fact, my guardian angel taught me a trick called a "Leaping Lizard" - it's pretty darn impressive for sure.  Because of my unique talent, I'll need a 6-foot fence to help me remain inside my kingdom.  I have a magical ability to connect with people & will look deep into your eyes to try & decipher what, exactly, you want from me.  I enjoy the company of large, especially female, dogs - although I do not think I could live with smaller dogs or cats.  I haven't spent time with many children so I'm unsure how I feel about the little tykes.

If you're in the neighborhood (or even if you're not!), I sure hope you can find time to stop in to meet me!  Be sure the ask for Forest "the prince" & you're sure to be impressed by my elegance & grace.  Let's trot right on out of MaxFund and into the sunset together.

Swager

6/6/11: Swager was adopted!

This guy is special...

Good day to you!  My name is Swager & I'm a 1 year-old Doberman mix with the self-assigned job of bringing sunshine, wags & smiles to every person I meet!  Somehow I ended up roaming the streets but, lucky for me, a wonderful family took me into their home.  They advertised for my previous owners but no one came to claim me.  They brought me to MaxFund where I am waiting for my Forever Family!

During the time in my temporary home, I enjoyed the company of all dogs I met as well as children as young as 1 1/2 years-old.  I'm not so sure about those 4-legged creatures you humans called "cats" as I have yet to have a witnessed encounter with one.   I'm a smart guy & I already know basic obedience commands such as sit, shake & lie down.  I learn tricks quickly & figured out what "roll over" meant in just a couple minutes!  I'm also a very athletic guy & would make some lucky human a fantastic jogging or hiking partner.  I hope my future family will help me reach my full potential as far as both my brains and brawn!!

Despite my recent advancement from official puppyhood, I'm housetrained and am past the annoying chewing-phase of life.  I'm very treat and toy motivated & I love my play time when I romp & wiggle my 58-lbs all around.

Won't you please come visit me in the Big Dog Room at MaxFund?  Please remember to ask for "Swager"!

Annabelle

6/19/11: Annabelle was adopted!

Such a sweet petite little boxer.  Writing her bio was fun - I tied in some of my Southern background & one of my all-time favorite movies, Gone with the Wind!!

"Fiddle dee dee."  Well, hello.  I'm Annabelle - a true Southern belle!   I'm a 54-lb boxer who, despite my stellar personality & stunning looks, ended up a stray.  You may ask my take on this situation?  It goes a little something like this:

"When life hands you lemons, you must just squeeze those lemons right on into some homemade sweet tea!"

At 5-years-young, I love to frolic with the best of them.  That's right - I'm an equal-opportunity frolic-er & I love all dogs, kids and even cats who've ever crossed my path!  As I fancy all aspects of life, I've proven myself to be quite the escape artist.  So I'll definitely need a secure 6-foot fence & all family members must commit to keeping me out of harm's way (including allowing me to stay inside our home when you're out & about).  True to my Southern manners, I'm very well-behaved on a leash, am housetrained & know basic obedience commands.

If you're looking forward to welcoming a polite, genuine, easy-going 4-legged companion into your Family, I just might the Belle for you!  And as us southern belles always look on the sunny side of life, I keep telling myself that "...tomorrow is another day..."  I hope it's the day that YOU come meet ME!

Chloe

6/6/11: Freckles was adopted!

Love this sweet girl!

Chloe bio

Hi-ya!  I'm Chloe & I have the biggest smile in town!  Despite my fantastic demeanor, I somehow ended up as a stray.  A nice family took me into their home & I sure loved spending the week with their entire family (which included children as young as 3 years-old, a few dogs & even a cat!)  When no one claimed me, the family wanted to be sure I got the best chance possible to find the perfect family, so they brought me to MaxFund.

I'm an Australian Shepherd who weighs 43-lbs & is about 1 year-old.  Let me share with you why I'll make some lucky family the perfect Forever companion.  I'm great on a leash, love car rides, know how to use a dog door & I love all people, dogs & cats I've met.  As I'm still a young'un, I'll need a family who has the time to invest in teaching me what is expected of a stellar adult canine citizen.  And, like all puppies, I still have the urge to chew so I'll need some guidance as to what I'm allowed to chew & what is off-limits.  I'm a smart little girl so your investment in my training will be returned many-fold!

If you're on the search for a loving, affectionate gal whose smile brightens up everyone's day, then come on over to MaxFund & ask for Chloe!

Bruce

6/30/11: Bruce was adopted!!

Love this guy!!

Hello!  I'm Bruce, a 4-year young, 90-lb American Bulldog.  I'm a big, goofy guy who is a BIG flirt.  My personal motto: "When you got it, you gotta flaunt it!"  When I'm not strutting my stuff in front of the ladies, I enjoy giving & receiving affection from humans & going on leash walks.  I look deep into everyone's eyes to try & figure out what, exactly, they want of me.  I'm a lover...& a pleaser, for sure!

As I was transferred to MaxFund from a high-kill shelter, not too much is known about me.  I have been on my best behavior around the people & dogs around MaxFund but I have yet to encounter any cats or children around these parts.  I can tell you that us American bulldogs are generally intelligent, social & active dogs who are at ease around our families.  In summary, I think I'm the whole package.

As much as I'm enjoying flaunting my stuff in front of potential adopters, I'm yearning for the day that someone picks big-ole-me out of the crowd!  If you might be that special someone, please come visit me sooner rather than later...I'm eagerly waiting!

Freckles

6/27: Freckles was adopted!

12 hours a day alone in an apartment?!?  Let's hope this guy gets the Family he deserves!

G'day mates!  I'm Freckles, a 2-year young Australian Cattle Dog eagerly searching for my Forever Family!  Freckles is the *perfect* name for me as I have freckles of THREE different colors covering my entire slender body.  Yup...gray, brown & black freckles stretch from the tips of my pointy ears to my feet & the tip of my tail.  I'm sure a handsome bloke, if I do say so myself!

My previous guardians adopted me from a pet store adoption drive but didn't really have time to take care of me.  Lucky for me, they took the time to relinquish me to MaxFund who will work tirelessly to help me meet my perfect match!  In my previous home, I was alone in the apartment for up to 12 hours each day.  Because of this, I need some work on socialization around dogs, cats & children.  With that said, I've never shown one ounce of aggression (even toward cats!) so I could probably make a good housemate to any of the aforementioned creatures.  I'm housetrained & know some basic obedience commands.  I'd love a yard to play & lounge in - but it will have to have a 6-foot fence as I'm quite the athlete.

I'm a big believer that everything happens for a reason.  I know that my not-so-perfect start in life was necessary to land me right here, right now perfectly prepared to meet my Forever Family.  Let's make the next decade+ together the best time of our lives!  You can start by visiting MaxFund & asking for Freckles!!

Blakester

Update: Wahoo!  Blakester was adopted!

Sweetie pie.

9/16/11: Updated Blakester bio (he's all healed up!!)

Hi everyone! My name is Blakester & I'm a 63-lb, 2 year-old lab mix. I was brought to MaxFund as a stray with an injured leg. However, after some medical treatment and rehabilitation, I'm good as new...and oh-so-ready to explore this fantastic state of Colorado!

I absolutely love being around people and other friendly dogs. And, I especially love going on leash walks, hikes & car rides! I really try to please the humans when we’re out exploring and I'll even sit for treats. As there aren't too many felines or young children around the Big Dog Room here at MaxFund, I'm not sure how I'd like to share a home with them. But, please be sure to inquire with the MaxFund staff if cats or kids are part of your family.

I’m looking for an active life-partner who will help me explore Colorado - I might even enjoy snow-sports with my thick, luxurious fur! But, at the end of an active day, I’m just a fun-loving, good-natured guy who just wants to cuddle and be part of your family.

If you're in the area, I'd love to visit with you - and maybe we can go explore for a while!

Original Blakester bio...

Hi everyone! My name is Blakester & I'm a 63-lb, 2 year-old lab mix. I was brought to MaxFund as a stray with an injured leg. I'm undergoing medical treatment (no long-lasting injuries...I should be healed right up soon!) but I sure haven't let my circumstances break my happy spirit! Instead of dwelling on the past, I'm eagerly looking forward to the day I meet my Forever Family!

I absolutely love being around people and other friendly dogs. And, I especially love going on walks & car rides! I really try to please the humans when we’re out exploring and I love to sit for treats! But, please be sure to inquire with the MaxFund staff if cats or kids are part of your family!

I’m looking for an active family who will help me explore Colorado! I know I’ll love hiking and exploring the Colorado Rockies. But, at the end of the day, I’m just a fun-loving, good-natured guy who just wants to cuddle and be part of your family.

If you're in the area, I'd love to visit with you - and maybe we can go explore for a while!

Sandy

7/1/11: Sandy was adopted!

6/9/11: Sandy is in a Foster Home!

Sweet gal.  How could a family just leave her at a shelter after 11 years??  Amazing.  Hope she finds a Family that appreciates how Fabulous she is :)

Good day!  I'm Sandy, a 37-lb spaniel mix who was born in in Y2K (that's the year 2000!)  I'm a distinguished lady who enjoys the simple things in life - walks on a leash, car rides, spending time with my family & simple rays of sunshine.  In fact, I'm content to lay in that ray of sunshine until you want something of me.  I'm rather sad that my previous family gave me up (they said I needed a calmer home) but I'm glad that they chose MaxFund to help find me the perfect Forever Family.  I've lived with cats & young children & have always been on my best behavior.  I've never lived with another dog but I seem to get along well with the friendly dogs around MaxFund.

If you consider adding me to your family, I promise to not be too much trouble.  I'm housetrained & past that annoying puppy-chewing phase of life.  I promise to greet visitors nicely & give you plenty of snuggles.  In return, I ask that you keep me warm, comfortable & safe.  I ask that you take me on daily walks (they're good for both of our mental & physical well-being!)  I ask that you keep me well-groomed.  And, I ask that you freely share loves & pets.

I sure hope you can take some time to come meet me!  Let's go on a walk & see if we're meant for each other.  If you ask for "Sandy", I promise to make your visit worth your while!

Windy

9/12/11: Updated Windy bio:

Hello world! My name is Windy & I'm a Belgian Shepherd (Malinois) mix who was born in January 2011. Us Belgian Malinois are a stellar breed - the U.S. Secret Service & Australian Royal Air Force use us exclusively due to our intelligence, adaptability & strong work drive. Like all puppies, we need stimulation, proper guidance & training to help us learn how to be excellent canine citizens & I'm missing out on that as I sit here in the shelter! Female Belgian Malinois usually weigh 55-65lbs but I'm currently only 40-lbs (& growing each day!)

I have a congenital issue and will need love, patience and care throughout my life. I cannot be "fixed"; I am just a special girl. I'm searching for the perfect Foster Family to help me learn how to be part of a family. I seem to get along well with the dogs I've met at the shelter and I even have a couple best buddies that I love to romp around with. I don't seem too interested in cats so I may be able to live with one. With regards to children, I've been friendly with all kiddos I've met but I do have a tendency (like many puppies) to knock them over and engage in some pupp-mouthing. I can tell you that I'm quite the WATER-DOG - I love to submerge my entire body in the doggie pool behind MaxFund! I'd love to experience all life has to offer ASAP so I can be a *fabulous* canine citizen once I'm available for permanent adoption.

If you're looking to help out a fun-loving, adorable puppy-in-need...then I just might be your gal! Please inquire at MaxFund about how you can become my Foster parent, or for information about my special needs, please call 303-595-0532 and speak with Heidi!

_______________

7/20/11: Windy is back.  This girl is so fantastic - she deserves an awesome family!

7/10/11: Windy was adopted!!  Wahoo!!

Windy has been sitting at the shelter on a medical hold for many weeks-months. She's a puppy who is missing out on valuable time learning how to become an excellent dog due to her medical condition. I did a quick bio to try & encourage someone to foster her - she's a fantastic young gal!!

I experienced a leg injury very early in life so was relinquished to MaxFund for medical care. It was also discovered that I have an infection & am undergoing some medical treatment.  While there may be a little front-sided investment in making sure that I'm a healthy girl, I promise to spend the rest of my life thanking you with lots of love, kisses and laughs!  I get along great with all the friendly dogs at the shelter but I have yet to experience felines or children. Ready

6/30/11: Ready was adopted!

Love this Kissy-Face!

Hi-ya, folks!  My name is Ready & I'm a 1 year-old lab mix who was found as stray here in Denver.  Why the name Ready, you might ask?  Well, because I'm Ready to play fetch!  I'm Ready to experience all life has to offer!  I'm Ready to be *your* Best Friend!!!  I'm a very friendly guy who will Readily hand out kisses to all who pay me any attention!  Come to think of it, maybe I should've been named Kissy-Face?!?!

I'm currently about 55-lbs but I'm actively trying to pack on some pounds & get up to a healthy weight (probably around 70-lbs or so.)  Since I was a stray, not too much is known about my past.  Specifically, the MaxFund folks can't speak as to my fondness of cats or young children.  I do seem to get along with other friendly dogs here at MaxFund.  And, to be quite honest, such a friendly guy as myself will probably do well with most well-behaved creatures, although us young, big dogs have the potential to knock over little kiddos when we get excited!  Please inquire with the MaxFund folks about your particular family.

I'm enjoying getting to know all the friendly volunteers & staff around MaxFund & I'm especially grateful for any attention & love I receive.  I also love going on walks & playing *fetch*.  And while I don't like to brag or anything, my fetching abilities are all-the-talk of the Big Dog Room here at MaxFund.  I am housetrained & the MaxFund folks try to prioritize taking me outside for potty breaks as I refuse to soil my kennel!

Are *you* Ready to meet your new Best Friend?  If so, make the trek over to MaxFund & ask for me...Ready (aka, Kissy-Face)!
