Boone is a transfer from a shelter in New Mexico.  It was hard to get a pic because he just wanted to be so close to me the entire time we were together :)

Single, sophisticated, independent, 4-legged, 5 year-old male seeks caring, relaxed family to share lifelong companionship.  A bit about myself: I'm a 49-lb black labrador mix who was transferred to MaxFund from a high-kill shelter when my time was "up" (yikes!)  My best physical feature must be my chocolate brown eyes...no wait, it's my luxurious black fur...ah, actually, it's definitely my magnificent smile.  You get the picture - I'm easy on the eyes. 

I'm searching for a companion who appreciates my laid-back approach to life.  I'm good on a leash & enjoy the company of all people I've met at both shelters.  The other dogs here don't seem to phase me, although I'd like to meet my future 4-legged roomies prior to deciding if we're a "match".  I'm also unsure how I'd get along with younger children or cats, although I could probably live with any & all 2-legged & 4-legged creatures as long as they're well-mannered.  My favorite moments are spent giving and getting affection.

Are you that special someone looking for a fantastically-courteous young man as a lifelong companion?  No pressure!  Let's just relax & get to know each other.  We can figure out if we're a good match...and THEN I can trot right out of MaxFund & into the sunset with my new life-partner(s).

6/30/11: Barbara was adopted!


She reminds me of Barbara Bush.  I think because the Bush's white house dog was a Cocker Spaniel.  And, she's calm, cool & collected.  Maybe she needs a string of pearls as her collar.

Hello!  My name is Barbara and I'm a 25-lb, 2-year old cocker spaniel mix.  As I was a stray when I came to MaxFund not too much is known about me.  I can say that I'm one calm and relaxed pup who just chills in her kennel amid all the hullabaloo here in the Big Dog Room.  

I seem to be great companion and many volunteers and staff at MaxFund have fallen in love with my gentle soul.  I am excellent on a leash - content to just walk by your side.  I will gently lean into your pets to encourage you to continue - I'm just so appreciative of your attention!  And I know you'll love my soft fur - especially behind my long ears (hint, hint!)  While everyone around here thinks I'm rather intelligent (& I'd have to agree with that), no one is positive whether I'd like to co-habitate with other dogs, cats or kids.  But please don't count that against me as I'm happy to meet all members of your family to see how we'd live together!  

As I'm such a cool and collected young gal, I'm not too thrilled about all this noise in the shelter.  So, stop on in and we'll get to know each other outside of all the commotion!  Just ask for "Barbara" - the coolest gal to arrive at MaxFund in a looooooong time!

Hello, world!  I'm Zeuce, a happy-go-lucky lab mix who LOVES LIFE!  I'm an active, clownish guy who weighs about 65 lbs. I was brought to MaxFund by my previous family because they couldn't take care of me any longer.  While I miss my family, I'm keeping my head (and curly tail) up & looking forward to meeting my true Forever Family!

At 2 years-young, I have plenty of puppy left in me!  Despite my goofiness, I am already housetrained and know basic obedience commands.  I have a fantastic demeanor & get along well with all people I've met (even kids!) as well as other friendly dogs.  I've never lived with a cat before so would need to meet one before knowing whether we could co-habitate.  I love bounding around freely, swimming & chasing balls.

8/19/11: Dayta was adopted!!


So darn cute.

Howdy!  I'm Dayta, a 3 year-old, 45-lb Basset Hound/Beagle mix who was brought to MaxFund because my family lost their home.  I was sad to leave my family but I'm looking forward to the next chapter!  I was told that I'm supposed to advertise for myself in this little write-up, so here goes...

I'm an attractive gal - in fact, I'm of the belief that the next "designer" breed should be a Basset/Beagle mix...ya'll can call us "Bagles!"  In addition to my stunning physique, let me tell you what separates me from the rest of this pack.  First off, I'm housetrained.  No annoying piddle puddles around the house.  I'm good with all well-behaved dogs (I loved visits to the dog park with my previous family!)  I'm also good with cats.  Did you hear that?!?  Good with *cats*!!  I know basic obedience commands but I'd love some further guidance on leash-manners (there's just so much to smell that I have a hard time focusing on anything else!)  I'm good around kids - even those "terrible-toddlers" don't seem to phase me.

I'm one special girl and oh-so deserving of a great home!  Now I'm ready to learn about *you*!  Might you be the special human that's a perfect fit for me??

Everyone is in love with this guy...

I hear you’re looking for a Best Friend?  Well…here I am!  My name is Otto and I’m the definitely (wo)man’s best friend!  I’m an adult, 45 lb cattle dog & I’m what everyone is looking for when they think of (wo)man’s best friend!

I was transferred to MaxFund from high-kill shelter as someone realized that they shouldn’t put-down (wo)man’s Best Friend!  Thank-you, Friend!!  I am a model canine citizen on a leash & I "check in" with my humans constantly.  I know basic obedience commands, enjoy car rides & am 110% housetrained.  In fact, the MaxFund folks ensure that they prioritize getting me outside (I could *never* bring myself to "go" in my kennel).  I’m a very friendly guy and really enjoy the company of all people and dogs I've met around these parts.  MaxFund hasn’t seen me around kids or cats – but I sure don’t seem too excited by them when we’re out on walks so I would probably be fine.  

I’d love a Best Friend that is active by day & into cuddling by-night (or vice versa ;o)!  My fur is very soft and I just know you’ll love cozying right on up to me!

Stubbs

This guy is way too skinny - makes me sad to look at him.  He needs a fam' that will fatten him right up!!

"Ahhh...look at this guy's wrinkled forehead!" I'm Stubbs and I've heard that exclamation a LOT in recent days! Enough talk, already! I'm ready to experience that family life that I've heard so much about! I'm a 3 year-old, 60-lb Boxer mix who needs to pack on a few more pounds to get up to a more healthy weight (I hear that statement may make some others around me envious!) 

Not too much is known about my stent on this earth since I was brought to MaxFund from a high-kill shelter who didn't have much information about me. I can tell you that I'm a happy-go-lucky guy and I'll try to climb right on up into your lap if you'll let me. Due to child-labor laws, I haven't encountered too many kids around MaxFund - but I think I would love & and all friendly people! Of course there's always the risk of my accidentally knocking over the little humans, so please be sure to inquire specifically about your smaller children. I am looking for a home where I can be the only pet as I'm sure that I can completely fulfill all your requirements for 4-legged love!

Princess was adopted!

She deserves to live like a Princess!

Hello!  I'm Princess & I'm quite the looker.   What's my best physical feature, you might ask?  Well, my BIG TOOTHY grin that I flash as I'm running around playing!  Yep...I put my ears down, chin up in the air and just smile ear-to-ear!  I haven't had quite as much to smile about lately - but, I'm a natural optimist and know that a lifetime of grins are in my future!

I'm a 1 1/2 year-old lab mix who weighs about 50-lbs.  I'm housetrained, love playing with other dogs, know basic obedience commands and I love to play (fetch, tug o' war, chase - you name it & I love it!)  I've lived with children and, while I love them, I tended to knock them down in my excitement.  I'm an athletic gal and I just know that one of my favorite pass-times could be hiking in the Rockies.   Everyone keeps asking my thoughts about living with a "cat".  Hmmph...I think they're great...to CHASE!  Therefore, the MaxFund folks say they won't allow me to live with any of those cats (Darn!)  

So, enough about me - I'm looking forward to learning about YOU!  As the shelter can be a little noisy and overwhelming, let's get to know each other on a walk - I'll show you just what a great girl I am!  Just ask for "Princess"  and let our journey together begin!

Hello, folks!  My name is Snoop & I'm a fabulous 6 year-young Aussie/Collie gentleman.  I would've been A-OK going my entire doggie life without learning what the word "divorce" means.  Unfortunately, for all involved, my humans got divorced...and divorced me too.  Fortunately, they were thoughtful enough to bring me to MaxFund where I'm waiting patiently for my Forever Family.

Describing myself as fabulous isn't narcissistic - it's a fact!  I am excellent on a leash - the kind of dog who will really make you humans look like you know what you're doing.  I check in with my people often when we're out on walks as your happiness is my number one priority.  I know some basic obedience commands & I also know how to jump a 4-foot fence - so a 6-foot fence is a must.  I love the company of other well-behaved but haven't spent too much time around cats or young children.  Playing with toys is fun - but I really just love to plant my head in your lap and receive tons o' lovin'!

I'm an optimistic guy & I just know that the perfect human is out there who will love me Forever.  If you're up for a meeting, I'm waiting back in the Big Dog Room...please hurry on over for a visit!
