9/29/11: Ole Blue Eyes was adopted!!
He's a return to MaxFund. His eyes are absolutely stunning.
Hello! I’m Ole Blue Eyes –a 6 year-youngm 74-lb Aussie/Husky/Chow mix & I’m definitely a looker! Don’t worry, though, I’ve got brains & a sense of humor to go along with my brawn! To prove it, I’ve decided to compose my autobiography using some lyrics from songs my namesake, Frank Sinatra. Here goes!!!!
I was initially transferred to MaxFund from a high-kill shelter. I was adopted but proved myself to be quite the escape artist. So, I’ve ended up back at MaxFund awaiting my true Forever Family. My favorite activities include playing with other dogs, lounging around with cats & going on leash walks…“Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart,
And you'll never walk alone”
While all of this might be fine & dandy, my absolute favorite activities include cozying up with my human in front of a fire…“You'd be so nice to come HOME to
You'd be so nice by the fire
While the breeze on high, sang a lullaby
You'd be all that I could desire”
…& making my human smile!“When you're smiling
The whole world smiles with you”
“In time the Rockies may crumble
Gibraltar may tumble
They're only made of clay
But our love is here to stay”
Please come visit Ole Blue Eyes soon!

Osa
10/23/11: Osa was adopted!
Sweet, sweet, agreeable girl
Well, hello there! I’m Osa, a 4-year-young, 51-lb good lookin’ gal. The MaxFund folks think I’m probably a collie/german shepherd mix but we’re really not too sure. I’m ok with whatever they want to call me because I’m quite the agreeable girl!
I was initially adopted from MaxFund as a puppy but, somehow, ended up at another shelter in the metro area. My microchip identified me as a MaxFund dog so I’m lucky to be kept safe at MaxFund until I meet my real Forever Family.
I'm quite the all-around remarkable dog. I already know the "sit" and "come" commands. I'm a model-dog on a leash - letting you set the pace and checking in frequently to make sure that my human is happy. As I'm quite a sensitive young girl, I'm not a huge fan of the noisy Big Dog Room but a friendly smile, a gentle touch, and the presence of another friendly dog sure sends my tail (and spirits) soaring! While it would be swell to live with another canine, I have yet to have a witnessed encounter with a cat (or a young child) so am not sure how I'd enjoy living with them - but please inquire with the MaxFund folks if these creatures are part of your family!
If a good-looking, agreeable girl seems like a good potential fit for your family, please head on over to MaxFund & ask for Osa!

George
George is in foster :)
:)
:)
Which way did he go, George, which way did he go?
Ahem…hello! I’m George and I’ve become somewhat of a go-to guy here in MaxFund due to my wise, mellow outlook on life. I’m a 68-lb, 8 year-young shepherd/rottie mix who was found as a stray here in Denver. A very kind person took me into their home while searching for my owners. When I wasn’t claimed, they brought me to MaxFund where I appreciate all the efforts to keep me comfortable while I search for the perfect Forever Family.
I’m a very well-behaved gentleman who is housetrained, good with kids and enjoys the company of other friendly dogs. I have excellent leash-manners and enjoy car rides. I’ve had no witnessed encounters with cats at MaxFund so I’m not sure how I’d enjoy their company.
If you’re looking for a chill canine companion who will be content to just relax in a ray of sunshine, then I’m your guy. Please come to MaxFund today and ask for the go-to guy, “George”!
Spark
Little guy
Good day! I’m Spark, a 2-year-old, 27-lb cocker spaniel mix who was found running in the middle of a very busy street. A good samaritan stopped their car and stopped traffic to rescue me and I gladly hopped into the car. Unfortunately, I already had a injured foot but I appreciate that the good sam brought me to MaxFund where I could receive medical attention. I’ve been under medical observation and it does not seem that I need surgery right now as I get along pretty well. However, it is possible that surgery might be in my future at some point although I sure hope not!
I’m a very good boy and I get along well with other dogs (although I can find the bigger dogs somewhat intimidating) as as well as kids. I’m not quite sure how I’d enjoy the company of cats. I’m well-behaved on a leash and enjoy affection very much. It seems that I lived outside in my previous life but I’ve heard that there are really nice humans out there who will actually welcome pets INSIDE their home. Woah baby! I sure hope to meet one of those special humans soon!
If you’re looking to add a little “Spark” to your life, please head on over to MaxFund today so we can meet & get on with our lives together already! I promise to spend each and every day thanking you for welcoming me INSIDE your family!

Brandy
10/3/11: Brandy was adopted!
Sweet smaller black lab
Sweet smaller black lab
“Whenever I’m down, I call on you my FRIEND
A helping hand you lend, in my time of need
I’m calling you now, just to make it through
What else can I do, don’t you hear my plea”
Hi there! My name is Brandy & I’m a 2 ½ year-old, 51-lb black lab who was surrendered to MaxFund because my family couldn’t take care of me any longer. They had nothing but good things to say about me and their parting words were that I’m a “good dog”. Yup, that about sums me up!
Here at MaxFund, we get to listen to fantastic music in the Big Dog Room. The other day, I heard my theme song called “BEST FRIEND” by an artist named Brandy! I’ve been humming it ever since & dreaming of the day that my BEST FRIEND walks through that door!
My favorite pastimes include swimming, chasing balls (actually, I like to chase cats too so I probably shouldn’t live with one), playing with other friendly dogs, going on leash walks and accompanying my human around town on car rides. I’m good with kids and am housetrained. I know some basic obedience commands such as sit, lay down, shake and high five. And, the most important thing about me is that I’m searching for a BEST FRIEND! Are you that special someone?
“Through the good times and the bad ones
Whether I lose or if I win
I know one thing that never changes and
That’s you as my BEST FRIEND”

Cody
There is no reason in the file about why Cody & Ashton were relinquished. They'll make some lucky family great canine pals!
Greetings. I'm Cody a 19-lb, 6-year old Japanese Chin/Pomeranian mix and I might just be as close as we'll ever get to royalty around MaxFund. You see, the Japanese Chin is the dog of Japanese royalty and the Pomeranian have been part of numerous royal families, including Queen Victoria. Don't worry, I'm very humble about my royal lineage and I'll be able to fit right into just about any family.

I was brought to MaxFund along with my 'adopted' sister, Ashton, when our family couldn't take care of us anymore. While we enjoyed living together, we are ok not being adopted into the same family (our number one priority is that we both end up in a home fit for a king or queen!) True to my regal self, I get along well with cats, young kids and other friendly dogs. My favorite activities include prancing around the kingdom on a leash and lounging around with my favorite people.
If you're looking to add a royal member to your family, please hurry on in to MaxFund and ask for Cody!
Ashton
2/13/12: Ashton was adopted!
Ashton is in foster :)
She's a little portly but a total sweetie!
I'm patiently waiting for a loving, faithful, attentive family in which I can relax and trust that they will always keep me safe, healthy and protected. Not too shabby of a goal, eh? I look forward to meeting YOU soon!

She's a little portly but a total sweetie!
Hello! My name is Ashton and I'm a 9-year-YOUNG, female cocker spaniel mix. I was brought to MaxFund by my former family, along with my 'adopted' brother, Cody, when our family couldn't care for us anymore. While I enjoyed living with Cody, we are both very open to being adopted into separate homes. Our previous owners really had nothing bad to say about us so I'm especially hopeful that we can both find the perfect Forever Family. You might ask why I'll make the perfect four-legged family member? Well...here goes...
Housebroken? Check.
Good with kids? Check.
Good with other dogs? Check.
Good with cats? Check.
Basic obedience? Check.
Good on a leash? Check.
Easygoing? Check.
As I've been a bit neglected during my life, I've packed on a little extra weight (I'm currently, ahem, 44lbs). But, lucky for you, several studies (by the National Institutes of Health, nonetheless!) show that dog owners who regularly walk their dogs are more physically active, more mobile inside their homes, less likely to be obese, and experience less stress, anxiety and loneliness! Research also shows that walking your dog helps contribute to positive, enjoyable social interactions! Woah baby! Looks like we'll both benefit by regular exercise!
Bodhi
10/23/11: Bodhi was adopted!
Sweet, calm guy for only being 9 months old!
While money might buy you a designer dog, it sure can't buy you a wag...and I've got plenty of wags saved up for deserving folks such as yourself! I'm Bodhi, a lab-mix who was born in January 2011. Some nice person picked me up off the side of a busy road (thank you!). They tried to find my previous owners but when I wasn't claimed they brought me to MaxFund where I'm searching for my special life-partner(s)!

At 56-lbs, I might have a little bit more growing to do. Like all big puppies, I'll need a family with the patience, time and dedication to helping me learn exactly what is expected of a superstar canine citizen. I have a head start, though, as I'm already housetrained and know some basic obedience commands. Since I was a stray, not too much is known about how I like other dogs, cats or children but I'll keep you updated as the MaxFund staff learns more about me!
If you're searching for a superstar young canine companion, then I just might be your guy! Hurry on over to MaxFund today - a lifetime of wags awaits!

Heidi
9/27/11: Heidi was adopted!
What a great dog!!
Good day. I'm Heidi - a 1-year-old, 53-lb shepherd mix who, somehow, ended up as a stray here in Denver. A very nice person welcomed me into their apartment and tried to track down my owner. Despite exhaustive efforts, my previous owner was never located. I spent several glorious days with my finder but (s)he couldn't keep me as I was too big for the apartment. It was a sad goodbye but I'm oh-so-grateful that (s)he chose MaxFund where everyone is dedicated to my finding an awesome Family!

During my time with my "finder", I interacted with many young kids, dogs and even cats and we all got along great! I'm great on a leash (jogging and hiking are especially fun!) and am already house-broken. I know basic obedience commands such as sit, stay, shake and lay down. I also love to play chase (especially with other dogs!), chew on bully sticks and CUDDLE! Yep...sounds like I'm about perfect, eh?!?
Although I'm really enjoying getting to know the folks around MaxFund, I know from my past experience just how special my "own" home will be. If you think you might be that special home-owner (or renter!), please hurry down to MaxFund so we can meet and get on with our lives, already! I'm waiting...
Clifford
10/9/11: Clifford was adopted!
Shy, reserved guy.
Single, sophisticated, independent, 4-legged, 3 year-old male seeks caring, relaxed human-companion to share lifelong companionship. Hi - I'm Clifford and just like the Big Red Dog, I'm a big guy (79-lbs to be exact) with a huge heart. A bit more info about myself: I'm a heeler/chow mix who was taken in by some good samaritans who found me as a stray. My best physical feature must be my chocolate brown eyes...no wait, it's my luxurious golden red fur...ah, actually, it's definitely my magnificent smile. You get the picture - I'm easy on the eyes.

I'm searching for a companion who appreciates my laid-back approach to life. I'm good on a leash & enjoy the company of all people I've met (the good samaritans had children as young as 7-years old and I thought they were fantastic!) I reeeeallly enjoy the company of other friendly dogs and would love to have a canine roomie. I have yet to meet any of those "cat" creatures but am open to the opportunity. My favorite moments are spent giving and getting affection.
Are you that special someone looking for a fantastically-courteous young man as a lifelong companion? No pressure! Let's just relax & get to know each other. We can figure out if we're a good match...and THEN I can trot right out of MaxFund & into the sunset with my new life-partner(s).
Sashi
10/31/11: Sashi was adopted!
Sweetie found running in the middle of a busy street :(
Sweetie found running in the middle of a busy street :(
Hello mate! I'm Sashi & I'm a 1 year-old dog who prides herself on being a dog of the universe. My name, Sashi, originates from the Indian language and means "moon". The folks around MaxFund think I'm a heeler/cattle dog/dingo mix - all breeds that originated in Australia. In fact, dingos are free-roaming dogs unique to Australia - mostly found in the Outback. From India to Australia to the moon...I somehow ended up as a stray here in Colorado. I wasn't sure what to do in the big city and I was spotted by a good samaritan running in the middle of a busy street. This good mate stopped their car and I willingly came to this friendly person. I didn't have on a collar and the good mate brought me to MaxFund where they knew I'd be kept safe. As no one has claimed me, I'm now available for adoption & am searching for my perfect Family!
Not too much is known about my previous life. I can tell you that I'm a bit timid at first but I warm up quickly. Like all young pups, I'll need a family with the time, patience and dedication to teach me what is expected of a superstar adult canine citizen. i haven't been allowed too much time around other dogs, cats or young children so I can't speak as to how I'll enjoy their company. However, I'm slowly getting out-and-about here at MaxFund and I'll update my bio once the humans figure out more specifics about my personality.
Although I'm staying in the Big Dog Room here at MaxFund, I'm really just a medium-sized sheila at 33-lbs. I sure hope you can hurry on down to MaxFund soon and ask for Sashi - I promise to do everything in my power to make your universe complete!
Jane
Poor Jane is on a medical hold right now. Hope this bio will draw someone in and they'll be eagerly awaiting her to be healed enough to go "home"!
Hello & thank you for taking the time to visit my personalized autobiography site. I'm Jane, a beautiful 4 year-old Shepherd mix who's had a rough-go-at-it lately. I was hit by a car in the Denver area and brought to an outside high-kill shelter. Luckily someone realized what a swell girl I am so they transferred me to MaxFund where I'm undergoing medical treatment and rehabilitation to heal my fractured leg. It's difficult for me to understand why all the other dogs get to go outside and play with the staff & volunteers while I'm having to spend time healing up. However, there are many kind souls who are very invested in my rehabilitation & I've stolen many hearts at MaxFund.
I enjoy spending time with my canine companions around MaxFund and look forward to the day that we can romp together off-leash. I have yet to spend too much time with cats and would probably prefer to not live with any younger children.
I'm not quite ready for adoption yet but spend my free time dreaming of the fantastic Forever Family that I know is in my future. If you get a chance to come visit MaxFund, I'd love to meet you!

Chipper
10/15/11: Chipper was adopted!
I rarely can understand how a person gives up a dog. But, a 10-year-old dog is even less understandable...
This photo was snapped by another volunteer when she took Chipper on a field trip. He loved the stream!!

Hello there! I'm Chipper, a 10-year old golden/lab mix with the life motto "Live Young!" I am a very active, well-behaved dog who lived on 25-acres in my former life. When I kept leaving the property (there was just so much LIVING out there to do!), my owner brought me to MaxFund to find a family who better suits my active lifestyle. I must mention that I only left the property when left alone to explore, as I'm very responsive to my name & the "come* command - and pleasing my people is my number one priority!
As I'm so eager to get out and explore this fabulous world of ours, I make sure that I'm a perfect gentleman on a leash - my goal is to make my human look good so they'll take me out and show me off often! I'm quite the water dog and love splashing around in creeks and streams. I already know many obedience commands & I'm extremely treat-motivated (I will even nudge at your treat-filled pocket before you reveal the goodies inside!)
I'm not too keen on this shelter environment and I'm a completely different dog when we meet outside of this stressful locale. Volunteers and staff at MaxFund describe me as "confidant, calm, real sweet gentleman, lover of the outdoors, well-mannered, well-behaved, housebroken, friendly-to-all, a lover of all people (including children!)" and they say I have a calming touch with other dogs. No one has witnessed any encounters with cats so please inquire with the MaxFund folks if cats are a part of your family.
I'm searching for a family who will spend time enjoying life with me. Although a secure yard would be nice, they need not have 25 acres...just the desire to share all life has to offer! If you're looking for a dog who will help you "Live Young", please come visit me at MaxFund. After you check in at the front desk, let's get to know each other outside of this darn kennel - I know you'll quickly recognize what totally fantastic man I am!

Cookie
She's one smart Cookie!
Howdy fellow Coloradoans! I'm Cookie, a one-year young German Shepherd mix who *loves* this great state of ours! As a wee pup, I was brought into a family who didn't have the time or financial resources to care for the 55-lb girl that I grew into. I appreciate that my former family brought me to MaxFund where I'm safe and sound until I find that special someone (or someones!) who will see what a loyal, trusting, optimistic pup I am!
I think Cookie is a perfect name for me as I have milk chocolate eyes, cream & brown fur and I'm sweet-as-sweet can be! I attach to humans quickly and will make you melt when I gaze into your eyes. I'm also one smart Cookie - I am already house-broken and know some basic obedience commands (but will appreciate some further obedience training). I'm eager to play with all dogs I've met around MaxFund and would love a canine roomie and/or frequent outings with other friendly dogs. I am an active, athletic girl who is great on a leash and would love to be your hiking partner (hint! hint!). Part of my athletic abilities include a rather impressive vertical leap so I'll need a home with a secure fence to ensure that I'm kept safe. When I'm not romping with other dogs or hiking this great state of ours, I love car rides, playing fetch, *cuddling*, and doing whatever I can to please YOU!
I have yet to experience those "other" 4-legged pets you humans refer to as cats so I'm not sure how I'd enjoy their company. With regards to children, I'm not a fan of them poking around my face so I should probably not live with any younger children who may not understand the meaning of the term "gentle hands".
Well...what are you waiting for? There's one sweet, eager, smart Cookie waiting at MaxFund to meet YOU!

Santana
10/31/11: Santana was adopted!
You relinquished your dog because he grew larger than you anticipated? Really?!? Did you not know that labs, chows & cattle dogs are all considered *big* dog breeds?? Grrrrr....
You relinquished your dog because he grew larger than you anticipated? Really?!? Did you not know that labs, chows & cattle dogs are all considered *big* dog breeds?? Grrrrr....
Howdy! My name is a Santana and I'm a victim of my genetics. You see, I'm a 9-month old chow/lab/cattle dog who was taken in by a family as a very small puppy but relinquished to MaxFund when I grew larger than they anticipated and they could no longer take care of me. I tried my darned-est to stop growing but it just didn't work. At 62-lbs (with maybe a few more lbs to go), I've learned to accept and love myself for who I am...which is one darn good dog!
While living with my previous family, I learned some nice manners. I'm housetrained, know some basic obedience commands and am well-behaved on a leash (once I get out some initial excitement!) I enjoy the company of other friendly dogs (I especially love trips to the dog park), as well as cats. I've never been around kids younger than 15 years so please inquire with the MaxFund staff if young kids are part of your family.
As a big puppy, I'm searching for a family that will provide consistency and direction as I grow up. But a life-time of lovin' awaits anyone who invests in my future! If you're looking for a good-looking, young, 4-legged guy to add to your family, please hurry on down to MaxFund and ask for Santana!
Lua
9/19/11: Lua was adopted!
Sweet little girl. xoxo
As I sit at MaxFund awaiting my Forever Family, I've been trying to figure out what a terrier/corgi/besenji mix would be called. Maybe a Corterji? Or a Tersencor? Or a Betergi? Oh heck....what about just a darn cute mutt?

Hello everyone! My name is Lua and, as you might have guessed, I'm a terrier/corgi/besenji mix. I'm 9-months old old and weigh 27 lbs. And, yes, I am darn cute! You say you need more information than just knowing that I'm cute? Alrighty, then...here goes...
I'm a very lovable little pup and no one has any idea how (or why!?!) I ended up as a stray. I had a collar with a broken electric cord hanging from my neck & some very nice people welcomed me into their home, got me a new collar (sans electric cord) and cleaned me up. I loved these good samaritans (I especially loved the 9-month old human as we share a birthday month!), as well as the resident dogs - but they were not able to keep me. I'm very grateful that I was brought to MaxFund where everyone is working hard to make me feel welcome while I search for my Forever Family!
Like all young puppies, I'll need a family with the time, dedication and patience to teach me what is expected of a superstar adult canine citizen. I've got a head start, though, as I already know how to "sit" and I love getting treats and praise when I do something to make you happy. And, if I do say so myself, I'm pretty darn good at making people happy! I've never had a witnessed encounter with a cat so I am not sure how I'd like to live with one.
I sure hope you get a chance to swing by and meet me! Please ask for Lua...the darn cute mutt!
Lalo
9/27/11: Lalo was adopted!
This guy barks at the front of his kennel but is very sweet once outside of the shelter.
Handsome. Sweet. Loving. Those are the first three adjectives used by many MaxFund folks to describe me - Lalo, a 1-year-young, German Shepherd mix who was brought to the shelter when my previous owner moved and didn't take me with them. I've declared myself the "Big Dog Room Greeting Committee" and I say "hello" to all who enter! Even though my greeting may appear to be a simple bark, I'm really trying to convince you that I'm the most desirable pup around these parts & that we should get to know each other outside of this chaotic shelter environment!

I have a head start, however, as I'm housetrained, already know how to sit, and I'm oh-so-treat-motivated! Did I mention that I also love human affection? Simply put, I'm a nice, friendly young man who has the potential to be a fantastic lifetime companion for some special human!
In my previous home, I lived with another dog and we got along just swell. I don't have too much experience with cats or young children so please inquire with the MaxFund folks if these little buggers are part of your family!
While all the folks around MaxFund fully appreciate my "Greeting Committee" role, I'm rather eager to start the next chapter of my life. If you think you might be the lucky human who will get to watch all 89-lbs of me "grow up", please c'mon down to MaxFund and ask for Lalo!
Zinda (aka, Zindy)
10/23/11: Zinda was adopted!
This gal had just returned from a walk when I met her in her kennel. I was shocked to learn that she's only 9-months old as she was so laid-back & chill. She'll make an *awesome* dog for a great family!
Namaste good people.

I'm Zinda - which means "alive" in Hindi - but you can call me Zindy for short! I'm one cool & collected 9-month old husky mix who appreciates the simple things in life. I was fortunate to be taken in by a good samaritan who found me wandering the streets. I thoroughly enjoyed my brief stay in their home (which included the company of young kids and other dogs) and I'm fortunate that they opted to bring me to MaxFund where I can search for my new & true Forever Family!
I'm a very friendly girl who enjoys car rides and leash walks. Like any young & healthy pup, I'm energetic and love my play time. I'm searching for a family with the time, dedication and commitment teach me what is expected of a superstar canine citizen! But I promise your investment will pay off one-million fold...really! Main tumse hamesha pyaar karoongi! (This means "I'll love you forever" in Hindi).
If you're searching for a young canine with a life-time of love to share (and who also is rather easy-on-the-eyes, if I do say so myself!) - please come in to MaxFund (soon!) and ask for Zinda!
Namaste.
Tomah
2/13/12: Tomah was adopted!!
Excited young pup.
If you're looking for a best friend, confidant and constant companion, you've come to the right place! I'm Tomah, a 1-year-old, 65-lb bundle of love! A good samaritan found me running loose around Denver and brought me into MaxFund for maximum exposure. For some silly reason, no one claimed me during my so-called "stray-hold" so I'm now primped and ready to meet my true Forever Family!
I'm a beautiful black lab with stunning brown eyes that penetrate deep into your soul. I'm a vivacious, enthusiastic guy who is eager to make you happy - but, like all adolescent males, I'll need a family with the time, patience and energy to help teach me what is expected in your home. I do have a tendency to bolt outside when given the opportunity as I'd much prefer to explore the outside world than sit in my kennel (well, duh!?!) - so I'll need a family who will commit to ensuring that I'm kept safe and sound in my new home. While I've been friendly with everyone I've met around MaxFund, I haven't had too much experience around little kids, other dogs or cats (yet!) so please inquire with the MaxFund staff is any of these creatures are part of your family.

If you're the special person searching for a young, goofy, active guy such as myself, I hope you'll hurry on in so we can start our life together! Remember to ask for Tomah!
