George #162

Which way did he go, George, which way did he go?

Ahem…hello!  I’m George and my wise, mellow outlook on life would make me the perfect go-to guy for some lucky human.   I’m a 50-lb, 1 year-young husky who was initially found as a stray.  When no one claimed me, I was oh-so-fortunate to end up in a foster home through Paws & Co.!  My stunning eyes have become the talk of the Paws & Co. folks as many-a-volunteers have gotten 'lost' while we gaze lovingly at each other :)
I’m a rather well-behaved gentleman who is housetrained, good on a leash and pretty darn calm for an adolescent boy.  I get along well with all dogs I've met but I have yet to meet any young children or cats.  With that said, I'm likely to get along well with any and all calm, friendly creatures. My ideal Forever Family is a chill home to match my chill personality. Since I enjoy the company of people so very much, I'd love a home where I get to spend the majority of days with my Family.  I'm also quite the athlete and I'll need to be in a home with a secure yard & fence to keep me safe at home!
If you’re looking for a handsome, laid-back canine companion, I just might be your go-to-guy!  Please email pawscoadoptions@gmail.com or fill out an adoption application on the website today!

Chuckie

Chuckie

Calm, sweet, undemanding 4 ½ lb. Yorkie seeks a Forever Valentine to share life with.  After a few too many weeks in a shelter (I was picked up as a stray), I’m thrilled to be able to await my Valentine’s arrival in a warm, loving foster home. Speaking of “warm”, I thoroughly enjoy wearing fashionable sweaters and my very favorite spot is in the lap of loving humans.  When no lap is available, I spend a good part of my days chasing the rays of sunshine around my foster home (in order to optimize my direct-sunlight-snoozing, of course!)

At 8-years-young, I have all those annoying puppy-habits out of the way – I’m already potty-trained and I promise to not chew up your slippers (although I might just snuggle up in them if you leave them unattended!)  I already know some obedience commands including sit, come and shake.  According to the two young girls in my foster home, I’m also quite the amazing dancer (I’ll do quite the jig on my hind legs as long as my performance is rewarded with a treat!)  Did I mention that I don’t shed?

I seem to get along well with all dogs I’ve met (while there are none in my foster home, I did great in the small dog playgroup in the shelter).  While cats aren’t familiar to me, my foster home includes a guinea pig (that’s nearly as big as me!) and I just ignore him so I’d likely do fine with any and all well-behaved creatures.  Of course, I’ll need a meet-and-greet with any potential family members to ensure that we’re compatible roomies.

If a low-maintenance, handsome, snuggly guy might fit well into your family, please email pawscoadoptions@gmail.com or fill out an adoption application on the website today (ensuring you mention Chuckie!)

Odie

Odie Bio (#164)

“Garfield, is that you?”

Hi-ya! I’m Odie-the-Chihuahua and I’m searching for my Garfield. Given that Garfield is only ranked #437 in the most-popular boys names, I doubt your name is actually Garfield – but, since I can’t speak English, I might refer to you as “Garfield” in my mind if that’s ok.  After all, who wouldn’t want to be part of one of the best dog-human partners in all of American comic history?

At only 5-lbs, I can be a bit timid when I first meet people but I warm up quickly (especially if you offer some snuggles!)  While I spent some of my first 6 months in a rural shelter, I’m still a young pup who’s a very fast learner and I’m quickly learning how to be part of a family.  While I enjoy the company of all humans I’ve met, I don’t think I’d much appreciate the unpredictable-ness of toddlers so I should probably stick with you better-behaved humans. I do love most dogs I’ve encountered (I love to show off my “play-with-me” pose that sure makes folks smile)!  I have yet to meet those creatures you humans refer to as “cats” so I’m not quite sure what I think of them.

My Foster Dad compares me to Alfalfa (from the Little Rascals) given that I’m a skinny, shy, all-around good kiddo!   Garfield? Alfalfa? Odie? Honestly, I don’t care what you call me – but let’s get our life together started!  Please email pawscoadoptions@gmail.com or fill out an adoption application on the Paws & Co. Adoptions website TODAY!

Roxanne/Roscoe Kittens

Roxanne and Roscoe #157, 158

Hi! I’m Roxanne and this is my wingman, Roscoe.  We’re fabulous 9 month-young DSH kittens found as strays in rural Colorado.  We’re not your average kittens – we share an EXTRA special bond.  You see, I had a problem with my left eye and Roscoe was my wingman in every sense of the word when we were homeless – helping me find food, stay safe and even providing me comfort and cuddles.  Lucky for us, someone noticed us (probably because of our EXTRA specialness) and we were rescued by Paws & Co. where I received necessary medical care.  I may now only have 50% of the eyes of most cats, but I’m 100% happy-go-lucky and we're ready to pounce into our Forever Family!

Like most kittens, we’re playful and love to explore all our home has to offer.  We’re both already litter-box trained and adjusting to living with one of those canine creatures.  We absolutely love all well-behaved humans although we have yet to experience very young children.   Like all adoptable pets, we’ll need to meet all future family members before deciding if our two-some will fit into your family!

If you’re interested in meeting a fabulous pair who can teach us all a thing-or-two about love and loyalty, please email pawscoadoptions@gmail.com or fill out an adoption application on the Paws & Co. Adoptions website TODAY!

Bernard

Bernard

Live simply - that’s my motto. Pretty perfect for a 1.5 year-old Boxer/St. Bernard Mix named Bernard (“Boxer” didn’t seem to fit such a gentle giant as myself so we took the simple route and named me “Bernard”). I’m a larger guy at about 65-lbs who appreciates the simple things in life – cuddles, antler-toys to chew, leash walks and a warm home.  I love the company of all humans and other dogs I’ve met – although I have yet to meet young children or cats I’m not quite sure what I think of them.

Now, I don’t want to give you the impression that I’m a couch potato as I still have a bit of a puppy-side (I absolutely love to romp around with my canine pals)!  Like any larger adolescent, I need a family with the time, dedication and patience to teach me exactly what is expected of an exemplary canine citizen – but, no worries as I already am crate-trained, potty-trained and know some basic obedience commands (sit, shake and down).

When my foster mom was asked to pick a pop culture character that I reminded her of, she chose Jim Halpert from The Office. A witty, intelligent and loyal dude who makes the ladies swoon?!?  I’ll take it!   If such a gentleman might fit well into your family, please email pawscoadoptions@gmail.com or fill out an adoption application on the Paws & Co. Adoptions website today and let’s embark on our simple life TOGETHER!!

Pogo

Pogo Bio #161

What do you get if you combine a chincilla and an opossum? Perfection, that’s what!  Howdy there! I’m Pogo (yep, I share a name with that personable opossum from the 1960s-70s comic strip) and I look like an overgrown Chincilla.  Opossum + Chincilla = perfection, for sure!

At 5-years-young and 9-lbs-small, I’m quite the snuggle-bug and I’ve been friendly with all humans (even kids!), dogs and cats I’ve encountered.  I’m not quite sure how I ended up at a rural animal shelter as I’ve always done my darnedest to be good (I’m crate-trained, potty-trained and know some basic obedience commands).  Us opposum/chincillas are optimistic by nature, though, so I’m only focused on the here-now-and-future – which I just know will be fantastic!

If a mild-mannered, friendly guy might fit well into your family,

Parka

Min Poo Parka in a parka here!

Howdy! For those of you that didn't catch onto my clever humor, my name is Parka; I love to wear parkas to stay warm and I'm Miniature Poodle!  I'm only about a year old and, somehow, I ended up as a stray in Denver (WITHOUT A PARKA…IN WINTER!)  Brrrrrrr!  Fortunately, I ended up at a great Denver Shelter where (after about a month) my foster family saw me and just KNEW they needed to get me out of the shelter environment (spending my first holidays in a shelter wasn't the best).  BUT, I'm an optimistic guy who cannot wait to spend a lifetime of special days (holidays or not!) with my Fabulous Forever Family!

I absolutely LOVE all people I've met - although very young kiddos aren't part of my foster world so I'm not quite sure what I'd think of those unpredictable babies.  My foster family does include a 50-lb canine sibling and we seem to just ignore each other (although we do share her dog bed very nicely together).  I also hear there's a grumpy cat somewhere but he has yet to make an appearance in my presence.  As with all rescue pets, I'll need to meet all of my potential Forever Family members to ensure that we're all ready for a life-time commitment.

As you can tell from my photo, I'm quite handsome and my most endearing physical feature must be my lopsided ears…I've heard folks squeal about just how "adorable" they are!

Might you be the lucky human that I get to share the rest of my (holi)days with?  Might you even feature my ears on your 2014 holiday card?  I have a great idea…a photo (or 2) of our entire family with the holiday greeting,

"Lopsided-eared Min Poo says 'Happy Holidays to You!'"

…a guy can dream can't he?!?

If you're interested in meeting me, please email pawscoadoptions@gmail.com or fill out an adoption application on the Paws & Co. Adoptions website TODAY!

Roxie

Roxie Bio

Hi there! I'm Roxie - a 13-month young, 55-lb PUPPY and I must admit that writing and advertising myself just doesn't come naturally to me.  However, I'm told that my job in the next few paragraphs is to advertise just how great I am so the perfect Forever Family will reach out.  In doing my research for this 'barkography', I found that good ole' Wikipedia's description of us Brindled Dutch Shepherd Dogs makes my authoring easy!  Per that handy online source, we're

"loyal, reliable, alert, watchful, active, independent, intelligent, and intuitive." Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep and YEP!

They continue by saying, "Obedience through modest specialized training and discipline can achieve remarkable results. Gifted with a true shepherding temperament, they work willingly together with their owners and can deal independently with any task they are assigned." OMG! WIKIPEDIA'S RIGHT ON!!  LET'S KEEP ON GOING HERE

"Dutch Shepherds have a strong character and independence passed down from their herding ancestry. Their owners need to be dominant yet fair leaders."  MIGHT THIS DESCRIBE YOU?!?

IT GETS BETTER AS THEY CONTINUE BY SAYING, "While there is no perfect dog for everybody, the Dutch Shepherd needs an active working lifestyle and an owner willing to make a commitment of proper socialization and training. Once the bond of trust is developed between the Dutch Shepherd and owner/trainer, their enthusiastic and intuitive nature needs little incentive or command to get them to follow through." WOAH BABY!  I THINK MY JOB HERE IS ABOUT DONE!

While Wikipedia describes me to a tee, I want to add a bit of original commentary.  I was originally rescued as an 8-week young puppy but the family who adopted me can't keep me any longer.  While I'll be oh-so-sad to leave my family (especially the young child who I absolutely ADORE!), I just know that bigger and better things are ahead!  My Forever Family will need to have the time, dedication & patience to teach me exactly what is expected of a superstar adult canine family member (in other words, I have a lot of puppy exuberance for life that needs to be directed in a healthy manner).  I do have a head start as I'm already potty-trained, crate-trained and know basic obedience commands (sit, stay, down, off).  I currently live with a cat but she does her best to avoid me as I think she's rather fun to chase.  I haven't had too much experience with other dogs - and they can intimidate me - so I may do better as an only dog (but please check with the Paws & Co. folks if a friendly dog is part of your family as it is possible that we could cohabitate!)

Might you be the honorable human(s) who would like to share your life with a goofy, loyal pup?  If so, please email pawscoadoptions@gmail.com or fill out an adoption application on the Paws & Co. Adoptions website TODAY!

Bronco

3…2…1…HAPPY NEW YEAR!  And…let's start 2014 off right…by running and running and RUNNING!  Hiking would be ok too! Maybe some snow shoeing (with those fancy dog snow booties) since it's winter!?!?   G'day Colorado!  I'm Bronco - the *perfectly active* pup for our *perfectly active* state!  As a 3-year-young, 60-lb. hound mix, I'm a bundle of energy who will help YOU keep up your active Colorado lifestyle by joining you on all of your stereotypical-Colorado activities!  As you may have guessed, I'm looking for an fun, active Family who has the time, patience and dedication to help me direct my energy in a productive manner!

As I was rescued by Paws & Co. from a rural Colorado shelter, not too much is known about my first few years of life.  I can tell you that I'm one of the FRIENDLIEST guys you'll ever meet and I love all humans and other dogs I've ever met. Given my energy level, I probably shouldn't live with very young children (as I might inadvertently knock them over given my enthusiasm for life)!  We're also not quite sure how I'd do with cats - especially given that I have a bit of an urge to chase small, fast animals (I'm just trying to play but they don't seem to appreciate my games)!  I know some basic obedience commands, am adjusting well to this idea of a 'crate' and I absolutely love snuggling up with my foster mom.

Are you looking for a canine companion who will fully appreciate all this active state of Colorado has to offer?  If so, I just might be the guy for you!  Please hurry up already and email pawscoadoptions@gmail.com or fill out an adoption application on the Paws & Co. Adoptions website today!!

Scout

Howdy y'all! I'm Scout - an 8-year-young Yellow Labrador searching for my Forever Family.  My amazing foster mom named me "Scout" after the protagonist in "To Kill a Mockingbird" as I'm honest and loyal - and I have quite a story to tell!  You see, I spent my first few years of life with an older person who had a good heart that got him/her into trouble as (s)he ended up with more dogs that (s)he could care for.  Fortunately, I was rescued and ended up in the care of Paws & Co. where I know they'll work hard until I find the perfect Forever Family!

I'm quite the optimistic gal (when life gives us Southern ladies lemons, we just make up some sweet tea!) and I have all of those annoying puppy behaviors out of the way.   I'm potty-trained and I promise not to chew up those fancy new shoes you bought for the holiday season.  Given my calm, sweet nature, I'd prefer a more laid-back home where I can just bask in a ray of Colorado sunshine until you want something of me.  I was never leash-trained in my former home (but, like all of us, I need some exercise during this new year!) so I'll need a family who can commit to teaching me that being on a leash is nothing to be nervous about.  I get along with all other dogs I've met and, unlike my namesake,  I seem to take on more of a submissive role with my fellow species.  I have not had any witnessed encounters with cats nor young children but I'm likely to get along well with all gentle creatures - just be sure to check with the Paws & Co. folks to arrange a Meet and Greet between all family members and myself.

Are you looking for lifetime pal to swap stories with?  I'd love nothing more than to snuggle up and hear your thoughts at the end of each day!  We can start our story-swapping ASAP if you'll just email pawscoadoptions@gmail.com or fill out an adoption application on the Paws & Co. Adoptions website and mention Scout!

Toby

Now that the traditional holidays are behind us, it's that time of year that we all like to snuggle up with a warm fire and our sweetheart!  If a 75-lb canine sweetheart is your type, then I just might be the guy for you!  I'm Toby - a 2 year-young Cane Corso searching for my Forever Family with the assistance of Paws & Co.  As I was found as a stray, not too much is known about my past but I can tell you that I'm very friendly and I enjoy the company of all humans and dogs that I've met.  I am quite curious about my feline foster sibling but when my foster humans tell me "No!" I walk right away (I'm quite the obedient gentleman!)  I'm already potty trained and know some basic obedience commands such as "sit" and "shake".

Us Cane Corso's are an Italian breed of dogs who, according to my trusty source Wikipedia, are "easy to train, have a willingness to please, and form a close attachment with their owner."  I say I fit that description to a tee!  I'm also quite easy on the eyes (a nice aspect of a sweetheart, in my opinion) with my bluish short coat, perfectly floppy ears and sweet wrinkled forehead!  In summary, I'm the complete package!

If a friendly, happy-go-lucky 75-lb sweetheart might be a perfect fit for your family, please email pawscoadoptions@gmail.com or fill out an adoption application on the Paws & Co. Adoptions website today!

Takk

"Takk! Takk! for visiting Takk's very own personalized dog biography site!"

For all you non-Icelandic speakers, "Takk" means "Thank you" in
Icelandic! Did my cleverness catch your attention? Excellent - now
let me tell you a bit more about me, Taak, a 55-lb, handsome guy (my
foster mom actually compares me to Matthew McConaughey in the looks
department!) actively searching for my Forever Family!

First, I'm oh-so-thankful for the crew at Paws & Co. who rescued me
from those cold streets over the holiday season! Although no one's
quite sure about my previous life, I can say that I spend every waking
moment trying to express my gratitude to my foster family (mostly in
the form of snuggles & intense, loving eye gazes)! My cleverness is
coming into play as I'm learning exactly what is expected of an inside
canine family member. I must say I'm adjusting well to this warm,
indoor, snuggly life and look forward to showing off all I've learned
to my Future Forever Family!

I'm friendly with my foster canine companion. I'm also friendly with
all humans I've met - although I have yet to experience feline or
small children companionship - so please inquire with the Paws & Co.
folks if such creatures are part of your family. I can be a bit
reserved when I first meet new folks - but once I realize that you're
another friendly person, I will warm (& snuggle) right on up!

Might a handsome, clever, friendly guy fit well into your family in
2014 (and for a lifetime of years to come?!?) If so, please email
pawscoadoptions@gmail.com or fill out an adoption application on the
Paws & Co. Adoptions website today!

Crosby

Crosby Bio

Might you be my Thumper or Flower?  Or maybe even my Faline (Woot! Woot!)  Howdy and Happy New Year to ya!  While you humans call me Crosby, I remind my foster dad of Bambi and, just like the cultural icon, I'm a young guy (about 1-2 years old) trying to find my way in this world with the help of a few friends at Paws & Co.!

I'm adjusting very well to being part of a my foster family and my favorite pastimes include chewing bones, playing with my foster canine siblings and cuddling.  As an 8-lb (full grown!) Chihuahua, I'm not a huge fan of the cold and snow (fireplace, anyone?!?) - I am, however, a huge fan of all people and dogs I've met.  I'm not sure what I think of young children or cats (I have yet to meet any such creatures) so if they're part of your family, please inquire with the Paws& Co. folks about our potential compatibility.

Even if you don't fit the mold of Thumper, Flower or Faline, I still would love to meet you (as long as you're friendly, loving and promise to share a lifetime of laughs, love and snuggles!)  Please hurry up and emailpawscoadoptions@gmail.com or fill out an adoption application on the Paws & Co. Adoptions website today…I'm waiting!
