Star Bio
Hello ya’ll. My name is Star and I’m
an original Southern Belle. Well, really, I'm a Colorado gal
through-and-through and I have yet to grow into that Belle - but my Catahoula
genetics are sure to shine through as I grow up! I’m an 8-week young
little lady who was rescued from Antonito, CO with my four siblings as
part of the 100 Dogs Project (a goal to bring 100 stray dogs from Antonito home
for the holidays!) Thank goodness as I hear it's pretty darn cold up
there these days.
I have an awesome foster mom (that I'm sharing
with my sister, Luna) and we're starting to learn the ropes of how to make you
humans smile :o)) Like all puppies, we need families with the love, time,
patience and dedication to teach us exactly what is expected of an adult canine
family member.
Please allow me to tell you a snip about my
Catahoula ancestors. We're believed to be the FIRST breed of dog
developed in the United States (Louisiana to be precise). Our official
name is the Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog and we were bred to be hunters,
trackers and herders. We're highly intelligent and energetic and need a
well-matched active family (we hear this shouldn't be hard to find in this
active state of ours!) that can handle a large adult dog (Luna and I will
likely be about 50-60lbs when full-grown). And, while us
Southern Belles don’t like to brag…if I do say so myself, I am quite a beauty
with my black coat and mesmerizing eyes! Although I have yet to meet
any young human children or cats, I may be able to live with them if exposed to
them in a healthy manner at a young age so please inquire ASAP if you're
interested in incorporating me into your feline- and kiddo-friendly family!
My sissy and I are spunky, charismatic gals who
keeps on the sunny side of life. In fact, our favorite southern
quotation is “Sometimes good things fall apart (snuggling with our Mama) so
better things can fall together (our Forever Family!)’ I know that I
will easily “fall” into sunny days and warm, cozy nights as part of your family.
I hope ya’ll can visit me – you can start by emailing pawscoadoptions@gmail.com or filling out an
adoption application on the Paws & Co. Adoptions website
and asking for “Star…the Southern Belle!”
