Handsome

Update: Handsome passed away in his sleep soon after his adoption.  His new Family was very loving and mourned his loss greatly.  They were thankful for the short time they had with this awesome guy and see that time as a blessing for all involved.  Hope you're enjoying the Rainbow Bridge, Handsome.

6/30/11: Handsome was adopted!

5/14/11: Handsome is in a Foster Home.

As I was brought to MaxFund as a stray, folks were faced with picking my name.  They considered my personality characteristics first.  Chill.  Mellow.  Polite.  These traits are all nice & accurate but the names didn't quite sound right.  They then turned to my physical attributes, including my luxurious coat and pointy ears.  One adjective came to mind...Handsome!!  Yep, that's me, Handsome - a 7-year YOUNG shepherd mix who is content to just hang out & appreciate the simple pleasures of life.  Walks.  Car rides.  Lovin'.  These are the things that make life worth living.

I'm not too demanding of your time; I'm content to just be in your presence.  I do appreciate regular exercise and I am excellent on a leash.  And, while the MaxFund folks can't speak as to how I'd do living with cats and kids, I sure don't seem to mind them when I'm out and about at MaxFund.  I've also been friendly with other dogs I've met around here.  Of course, like all adoptees, I'll need to meet the entire family (all 2-legged & 4-legged folks) prior to deciding whether we can live together FOREVER!

Since I'm such a chill guy, you might overlook me amongst all the chatter in the Big Dog Room.  Please come visit and remember to ask for Handsome!

Amber 2 (husky mix)

3/26/11: Amber was adopted!

She's just a lil' gal!!

Who wouldn't love this face?  With my 1 blue eye & 1 brown eye, I'm quite a looker!  Yep - that's me, Amber, a stunningly beautiful 1 year-old husky mix.  While one year may not seem too long to you humans, it's sure been a long road for me.  You see, several months ago I ended up in a New Mexico shelter.  I can't understand why no one adopted me but when my time was up in NM, some nice folks brought me to MaxFund.  New Mexico's loss is Colorado's gain as now some lucky person here gets the chance to enjoy me FOREVER!

During my year-long life, no one has taken the time to introduce me to the big world so I can be a bit shy at first.  It will take patience, consistency & guidance to teach me how to become an outstanding canine citizen.  But I'm oh-so-eager to please & am a very smart girl so I just know I'll quickly figure out what you expect of me!  And I promise to make it worth your while!!

Although not too much is known about me, I can say that I seem to get along fine with the dogs I've met at MaxFund.  However, cats and children are few-and-far-between in the Big Dog Room so I'm not quite sure how I'd do around them (please ask the staff here what they think about your particular family).  And, while I'm staying in the Big Dog Room, I'm really just a petite gal at 39-lbs.

Don't pass up this chance, Colorado!  Hurry in to see this cutie-pie face soon!!!  I'm waiting...

Bailey

3/26/11: Yay!  Bailey was adopted!!

There was a new human baby in this guy's family so they say they didn't have time to take care of him.  He's an amazing dog & I hope someone soon realizes just how much he has to offer.

If you're looking for a BEST FRIEND, you've come to the right place!  I'm Bailey, a 3 year-old, 62 lb labrador/golden retriever mix & I'm searching for a BEST FRIEND (or two...or three...).  Unfortunately, my previous family was too busy to properly care for me but, luckily, they brought me to MaxFund where I am being well cared for until my Forever Family comes around.  My former guardians described me as a "perfect boy" who is good with all people (kids included!), other dogs, and even cats.  I've mastered basic obedience commands, such as sit & lie down, and I'm very treat motivated.  As I'm still in my younger years, I'm a rather active guy so I hope frequent trips to the dog park and/or walks/jogs will be part of my new life.  I also hope for lots of affection & cuddling!

My favorite activities include playing tug o' war, chase, romping with other dogs & burying my head in your lap (while you rub behind my ears).  Did I mention that I'm past the annoying chewing phase of puppy-hood and I'm housetrained?   Oh...and I have gloriously soft fur that is perfect for cozying up to!!

What are you waiting for?  Your BEST FRIEND is waiting for you in the big dog room at MaxFund...just remember to ask for Bailey!

Titus

7/24/11: Titus was finally adopted!!

Lover. Hope his new Family finds him soon!

Hello there, folks!  I'm Titus, a 2 year-old, 90-lb brilliant bundle of love!  I've been labeled a Shephard-mix, but we're not really sure what else I'm mixed with.  Potentially great dane?!?  Or...maybe kangaroo, eh?!?  I was brought to MaxFund by my previous family because they couldn't take care of such a large guy as myself.  So, here I wait for my Forever Family!

I'm a very well-trained guy.  I know how to sit, lay down and even roll over!  I'm good on a leash and will "check-in" with my human often during our walks (especially if you're bearing yummy treats!)  I'm housebroken, past that annoying chewing-phase of early dog-life and I love to fetch! I enjoy the company of other girlie dogs but, of course, would need to meet them before deciding if we would make good roomies.  I'm looking for a family with a large yard so I can stretch my legs on a regular basis.  With regards to kids, I haven't been around too many youngsters so I'd probably do best with older teens and adults who can spend lots of time with me!  I haven't had too much experience with cats but I probably wouldn't like to share my home with them.  However, if cats are a big part of your life, please inquire with the MaxFund folks about your particular situation.

I just know my Forever Family is out there searching for me.  Until we meet, I'll have my fabulous kangaroo ears raised waiting to hear your footsteps & voice!

Jax

My name is Jax and I've been having this recurring dream in which I'm Homeward Bound (like in the movie!). In my dream, I'm lounging on a pillow in my New Family's home. Suddenly, I hear the opening of a door. My tail starts to slowly thump as I hear my guardian enter. I lazily get up & my collar tags jingle as I shake out my entire body. My toenails click along the floor as I walk toward you. And then, I see you!  My head tilts slightly down; my ears press back and my lil' tail swings as we greet each other. Fantastic!

The list of what makes me so great is too long to cover in the allotted space...but I'll give it a whirl. First and foremost, I'm easy on the eyes. Between my spotted right ear, muscular frame & big grin, I'm a real looker. At 7-years young, I've got all the annoying puppy-stuff out of my system. No chewing of your shoes and couch. No annoying jumping up on people. No looking at you cross-eyed when you say basic words like "sit".  And, not only am I housetrained, but I'm trained to sit by the door when I need to go outside & relieve myself. I love to play (with humans & other dogs), am good on a leash and I'm even a great jogging partner! While I've never lived with children, I've always been friendly with kids I've encountered. I don't have too much experience with cats so am not sure if I could live with one.

My previous owner brought me to MaxFund after he got a new job that forced him work very long hours.  He had nothing but good things to say about me and I'm appreciative that he thought to bring me to MaxFund where I can wait for my Forever Family!

The 2-legged folks say I'm about out of space in this autobiography so I hope I've caught your attention!  Are you the special human who can make my dream come true?  If so, I'm here waiting...and dreaming of the day when I'll truly be Homeward Bound.

Meeva

Howdy!  I'm Meeva, a 2 year-old, 49-lb cattle dog/husky mix who was brought to MaxFund from a high-kill shelter when my time was "up".  Whew doggie, that was a close one!  I was told that I'm supposed to advertise for myself in this little write-up so here goes...

Let me tell you what separates me from the rest of this pack here.  First off, I'm housetrained.  No annoying piddle puddles around the house.  I'm good with all well-behaved dogs.  I'm good with cats.  Did you hear that?!?  Good with *cats*!!  I enjoy car rides and would love to accompany you around town.  I'm playful when you want and will relax when you want.  I'm an attractive gal (one blue eye, one brown; beautiful soft, brown fur with white paws that look like socks; and a glorious smile that will brighten any day!)  I'm affectionate and love to give out kisses.  And, while there have been no witnessed encounters with wee lil' humans, I sure think I could live just fine with them too (but we'll have to meet first to convince the MaxFund folks!)

I'm one special girl and oh-so deserving of a great home!  Now I'm ready to learn about *you*!  Might you be the special human that's a perfect fit for me??

Daina

3/12/11: Daina was adopted today!

Hi-ya!  My name is Daina and I'm a 1 year-old, 32-lb Brittany Spaniel mix.  I'm a bouncy, loving adolescent pup who is searching for a very special person (or people!) who can show me the love and affection of a *real* family!  I was brought to MaxFund by some good samaritans who took me into their home while they searched for my owners.  When no one claimed me, they were nice enough to bring me to MaxFund where I'm safe until I find my Forever Family.  Being a stray & all, not too much is known about my first year of life.  I can tell you that during my few days in the good samaritans' home, I never pottied in the house.  I slept in a room all by myself and did just fine, but I enjoyed the company of people very, very much.  I also loved car rides and chasing balls and toys...although I haven't quite figured out what you mean by "fetch"!  You'll love watching me pounce after tennis balls and trap the ball in between my front paws before putting it in my mouth and running away.  So fun!

The folks at MaxFund think I may have been mistreated in my previous life as I can be a little shy and fearful when I first meet you.  But, I'm just a bouncy bundle of joy when I see that you're a nice human!  Of course, like all adolescents, I'll need a family with the patience and time to work with me on training and obedience.  I seem to get along with other dogs at MaxFund just fine, but I haven't had too much exposure to cats or children so am not sure how I'd like to have them around.

After a hard day of playing and pouncing, I look forward to cuddling up with my Family and relaxing.  Maybe you can even rub that special spot behind my ears?!?
