1/22/11: Bear Bear went home to his New Family!
This cutie is still waiting at the shelter for the perfect Forever Family!
Want to join the likes of Elvis Presley and Sigmund Freud?? Well then, keep on reading about me! My name is Bear Bear and I’m a 10-month old Chow Chow mix. In my short 10 months of life, I’ve already been with 3 owners and I’m eager to settle into some stability. After I left my mom, a lady took me because I was such a cute puppy. But, this first lady moved and gave me away to a neighbor. I was so confused but tried to make the best of the situation. My next owner also decided that I didn’t belong in his family – so here I am…waiting for YOU! I’m tired of so-called owners and am looking for a MOM and/or DAD who won’t ever reject me!
The name Chow Chow comes from the Chinese, where it is translated as “Songshi Quan” which means “puffy-lion dog”. Yep…this describes me perfectly – my soft fur is particularly thick around my neck, giving a mane appearance. While most of my fur is golden, I am particularly unique with a streak of black hair on my neck and tail – very handsome, if I do say so myself! Because of my life-experiences, I can be a bit shy at first. But, once we meet each other and I learn you are trustworthy, you are welcome to cuddle me like a teddy bear!
Chow Chows are one of the oldest breeds of dog. We were bred for hunting, herding and protecting the home. I know I’ll make an outstanding member of the right family – preferably one without young children (they can sure be unpredictable!) or other pets. Being my Mom or Dad will be well worth your while, though! Not only will you get all my attention, but you’ll join the distinguished group of former Chow Chow parents, including the 30th U.S. president Calvin Coolidge, Elvis Presley and Sigmund Freud! Pretty outstanding company, eh?!?
I am still a playful puppy and will need patience, guidance and training so I can grow into a good Canine Citizen. I am good on a leash and would love if we could go for frequent walks. Play-time is a must – I’ll show you just how fun and wiggly I can be! When we’re both tired, I look forward to being your live teddy bear – cozy, cuddly and comforting.
