This is one of those heartbreaking stories. And, it's not anyone's fault - it's just life. Seli was adopted from MF at 2-years of age by a single man. He loved this dog and took her all over North America (even Alaska!) as part of his job on the road. She sat in the front seat and she was his true life partner. Then he lost his job. After being unemployed for a while, he had to take a job on an oil rig. No dogs allowed. He tried to find someone he trusted to take care of her while he was gone but couldn't find anyone he trusted as much as MF. (Not to mention that all adopters sign contracts saying they will return the dog to MF if they can keep him/her.) The scene in the MF lobby was full of emotion and tears. I wasn't there to witness (probably better because I might have just taken Seli home and told "B" and my spotted pups that they have to get used to the idea) - but it's been the talk of the shelter. Seli took quite a while to re-adjust to shelter life - she just couldn't understand what was going on. Her beautiful ears look at each person to see if it's her "man". Like so many, I don't understand why no one has welcomed this awesome dog into their family. But, I know the perfect Family is out there searching! Look at this face!!!!
Howdy, folks! I'm Seli, a 45 lb, 6-year young female lab mix. I was originally adopted from MaxFund when I was 2 years old and had a fabulous 4 years with my adopted family. See, part of my dad's job involved driving all over North America...and I got to tag along!!! I just loved being "Queen of the Road"! Unfortunately, he got a job this winter that is far, far away and he couldn't take me with him. It was a really tough goodbye (I'm still trying to make sense of it all) - but I'm so thankful that he returned me to MaxFund where I just know I'll find a(nother) fabulous family!
As I mentioned, I love car rides. I also love dogs, dog parks, kids, walks on a leash, tennis balls, treats and giving out kisses! I've even had formal obedience training! And, not only am I a very well-behaved gal but I'm good looking to boot! I have absolutely fabulous pointy ears - aren't they fantastic?!? When you first see me at MaxFund, my ears will be standing straight up (except for the little floppy tips of the ears that always dangle!) But when you go to give me loving and pets, I lay my ears down submissively (the humans sure seem to love that!). I also have very sweet, trusting eyes that reflect my inner greatness. The MaxFund folks tell me that I must mention that another love of mine is chasing cats - so I probably shouldn't live with one.
I am an optimistic gal and know that I will once again reign as "Queen" in my future family. If you're in the neighborhood, I sure hope we can meet. I'll greet you with lots of wags, smiles and kisses!
