Romeo

Update: Romeo was adopted!!!!  Yeehaw!!

Wahoo!  Romeo is in foster!!!

6/9/11:  Updated Romeo bio:

My name is Romeo and I'm a LOVER! I can even make a heart shape with my tail and head - as demonstrated in this picture...see?!?! I'm a 6 year old German Shepard mix and have been returned to MaxFund by several families. My issue is that I LOVE a little too much sometimes. I LOVE all people, and I even LOVE children, but I LOVE them so much and feel that it's my duty to protect them. So, my LOVING has gotten me into some trouble when "strange" people and dogs come around the people that I LOVE so much.

On the other hand, my LOVE has also made the newspapers.  In fall 2007, I was spotted running stray with my doggie girlfriend (who the media later dubbed "Juliet").  When Juliet was hit by a car, I kept vigil over my pal until someone arrived to try & help.  Unfortunately, she didn't make it...but I'm oh-so-grateful that I'm still here to offer all my LOVE to those around me.

Although I really LOVE children, I'm looking for a Forever Family without children (I don't want to feel like I need to protect the little tykes). I am housetrained and am great on a leash. I also know basic obedience commands and I can even get along with cats (I've lived with one before and we got along great!) I LOVE to fetch balls - but, even better, I LOVE to be chased when I'm carrying a ball!! One thing I don't like is loud noises - thunder and fireworks are the worst! When mom or dad are around to protect me from these scary noises, I can easily be comforted by their LOVE - but, if I'm alone, I get very uncomfortable and worked up. So, I'm also looking for a mom and/or dad who can be with me most of the time. Or, if they can't be with me, I may be able to spend time in a doggie daycare because I like other dogs who aren't threatening my beLOVEd people!

So, as you can see, I'm a total LOVER and am looking forward to cuddling with YOU! Please come visit me - I'd LOVE to go on a walk and see if we're a good match! Just ask "Romeo, the LOVER!"

4/28/11:  I've organized a walking team for the Lucky Mutt Strutt (June 26th in Wash Park) & we're walking in honor of this guy, Romeo!  Romeo is the longest MaxFund resident for whom I have written a "Barkography".  I absolutely love this guy & want him to find the perfect Family that he deserves!  xoxo Romeo!

1/4/11: Romeo is the first dog I've posted on my blog that is still waiting at the shelter for the perfect FOREVER family.  He's been adopted and returned to MF many times.  See - he's a great pup.  He is social at dog parks/doggie daycare situations, is great with kids and even cats.  The problem is that he becomes very protective of "his" property, territory and people.  There are photos of him with previous kids that he's lived with and he looks like king of the universe - letting them crawl all over him, pull his ears, and do all those things kids do.  But, apparently, he identified himself as their protector and wouldn't let anyone else around them.  So unfortunate since he's such a great guy.  I walk him as often as I can at MF - he's oh-so-appreciative of any attention.  This past weekend (New Year's), it was too cold to take the pups on walks so I took Romeo to the lobby and we just hung out for a while.  I just love him and think about him often.  I can't wait for the day he finds his perfect, monogamist match!
