Update: Buddha went home with her new Family!
Buddha is one of the big black dogs that got an *awesome* application today! I did the meet and greet with the young couple and their 3-year old male chocolate lab and it was *awesome*! The pups loved each other - played chase, wrestled and both laid down in the snow and dug in their face. Priceless. I sure hope it works out!

Hello! My name is Buddha and I am now accepting applications for a new Best Friend. This person (or people) must have some amazing qualities about them – they must be loving, friendly, and willing to provide free belly rubs to me, a 68 pound, 1 year-old female black lab mix. In return you’ll receive a lifetime of gratitude, loyalty, lovin’ and smiles!
Before you submit your Best-Friend-to-Buddha application here at MaxFund, let me tell you a few things about me. I came to MaxFund from a high-kill shelter after someone realized just how much love I have to give. I’m still a puppy - big paws and all!. I love to play ball (fetch, anyone?) and need daily exercise to keep my puppy-energy diverted in a healthy direction. MaxFund doesn’t know all that much about my past as I don’t like to talk about it – but there’s definitely a story behind my puppy-dog eyes, long soft ears and wrinkled forehead.
As part of my application process, I’m gladly accepting visitors here at MaxFund. I find the introductions so very exciting – I’ll jump and turn in circles when we meet! I am able to calm down (once I realize that’s what you’d prefer) and “sit” while you slip a leash on. Once we’re out of the shelter, I’m well-behaved (and good-looking!) on a leash. I mention the good-looking part because several people have commented on my perfectly graceful dog-stride! I do not seem too distracted by other dogs, but I haven’t really been around cats so am not sure how I’d live with one. So far, I get along with all people I’ve met and would probably get along with well-behaved children. As I mentioned, I do have a lot of energy and my family will need time and patience to invest in my future so I can become a fabulous adult Canine Citizen!
Please stop by MaxFund to meet me and submit your application for Buddha’s Best Friend! I’m in the big dog room waiting patiently (but eagerly) for YOU!
