I was worried that this big girl might sit at MF for a while (she's rather portly!)  But, luckily, the perfect family came along - they have an 11 y/o daughter and the dad was big enough to handle Dharma on a leash!!  They have another dog as well and Dharma fit right on in!!  Sure hope 2011 is everything she dreamed ;)

Hello all!  My name is Dharma and I have two New Year's Resolutions.  1) Find a Forever Family who will enjoy a lifetime of loving, snuggling and loyalty. 2) Get back my girlish figure.  I am a 7-year YOUNG yellow lab who has had a rough second half of 2010.  I lived with a family for many years but was surrendered earlier this year in Alabama.  I'm not sure why they couldn't keep me anymore, but I was excited to hear that I was moving to the Rocky Mountains!  Unfortunately, after 4 months with my new family in Colorado, my family lost their home.  Parting ways was so very sad, but I'm thankful that they brought me to MaxFund where I can be well taken care of until my Forever Family discovers me!

Like so many of us who go through tough times, I haven't prioritized my well-being.  That's a fancy way to say that I've lost my figure...ya know, gained weight (I currently weigh 119 lbs).  BUT, 2011 is a new year and I plan to meet my Forever Family and walk/exercise & play off all this excess weight!  And, do I love to PLAY!  Let me tell you a little about me.  First, you should know that everyone at MaxFund just loves me!  I LOVE LOVE to play fetch!  I love all people, friendly dogs, cats and even livestock!  I'm housetrained, love to walk on a leash, love car rides and know basic obedience commands.  In summary, I'm just an all-around great dog!  And, if you aren't convinced yet...my name (Dharma) is what enables humans to be contented and happy!  Perfect name for a perfect dog because I LIVE to make sure everyone around me is contented and happy!

So, are you looking for an upbeat, well-trained, friendly, playful pup who has big aspirations for 2011?  Well, HERE I AM!  I hope we can get to know each other on a walk outside the shelter.  It's been a long-road to find the perfect Forever Family - but I know you're out there just waiting for me...and I know you're worth my wait!  I promise to do everything in my power to keep YOU contented and happy.
